Children are having large amounts of sugar every time they have a soft drink, scientists say seriously.
Everyday favorites have the same amount of sugar as bags of sweets. A can of cola pass 35g sugar, the same as one-and-a-quarter bags of fruits sweets. Ass energy drinks(功能饮料) can be even worse, with as much as 20 teaspoons of sugar in one can.
Many scientists and parents are caring about the amount of sugar children are having, “Soft drinks aren’t just a drink- they have large amounts of unseen sugar,” says one doctor.
A bottle of water often costs nearly as much as a soft drink. As a result, young people are willing to buy a sugary soft drink, especially if its advertising as having health giving vitamins.
“Soft drinks are designed(设计) to be very attractive(吸引) for children,” says one month, “And there is so much choice - all in different colors and nice bottles and cans. Why would anyone choose water? Clearly some bright, fruity drink is more attractive. They don’t advertise that day are bad for health.
Some schools are now taking actions to stop children from getting these drinks during the day. Head
teacher Nabil Singh says, “We have taken away all vending(售卖) machines selling sugary drinks and put healthier alternatives there, although many students disagree with it. we have to put their health first. Some of these drinks are no better than sugary poison.”
