As China’s appearance across the world increases and it builds stronger relations with western count

二、阅读理解
As China’s appearance across the world increases and it builds stronger relations with western countries, more Chinese elements(元素)are appearing in Western media.
Der Spiegel, the world--famous German weekly news magazine, chose Chinese pinyin “xinglai” (wake up) on the cover published on November 11, 2017. The yellow print and red background are both colours often used by Chinese people.
The famous US weekly magazine, TIME, wrote in Chinese on the cover published on November 13, 2017, to translate the English title “China won”. According to Ian Bremmer, the writer of the cover story with this title, it was the first time that the magazine used two languages as the title on the cover.
As for TIME, it has a long history of using Chinese elements in its magazines since January 6 1924, and photos of Chinese politicians(政治家) used to be the only choice for the magazine at that time. The situation changed when it published Chinese actress Gong Li’s photo on its cover On February 5, 1996. Later more Chinese icons, like kung fu star Jackie Chan, singer Faye Wong and actress Zhang Ziyi, appeared on the TIME covers.
Although the content and forms have become different, the colours representing China are still not changed, with red and yellow still the most used to decorate the Chinese elements.
