Moving quickly against the virus

Although the novel coronavirus epidemic outbreak brought a troubling start to 2020, China has impressed (使……印象深刻) the world by fighting the epidemic in a fast, organized and effective manner. 
President Xi Jinping has been directing national prevention and control work. He chaired (主持) a series of meetings. He stressed that governments at all levels should put public health and safety first. The State Council (国务院) formed the Central Leading Group for Epidemic Response. Premier Li Keqiang headed (领导) the group and went to Wuhan to guide their work. 

To better control the epidemic, some officials in Hubei were removed (免职) for their slow response and poor measures (措施). New officials took their place. The local government and health officials have been urged to treat patients on time and report clear statistics (数据).
“Under such special circumstances (情况), people who can do the job better should be given the responsibility (责任) to do it,” Cui Tiankai, Chinese ambassador (大使) to the US, said in an interview with NPR. “And this is a very heavy responsibility.” 
By pooling (聚集) the strength of the whole country, China has built an effective prevention and control system. The latest reports show that new infections  have dropped. Several provinces have recorded zero new infections.  
These efforts have been widely praised. “It is always difficult to have a quick solution, but China has made a very strong and very impressive response,” said United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
China’s solution can be used in other places, as Bruce Aylward, leader of a WHO team that visited China, said to the New York Times. This will need “speed, imagination and political courage (勇气),” he said.
