From this July, people in Shanghai are being asked to sort (分类)their garbage (垃圾). They must put their garbage in different boxes to improve the city's environment.
Until now, a lot of garbage has been put into one place. The garbage is then taken to landfill sites (垃圾填满场). These landfill sites, however, can be bad for the land and water.
The new plan asks people to put their garbage into different boxes, one for each kind of garbage. The brown one is for ' wet garbage' (such as food waste).
