A few years ago, my husband Dawn and I were in Key West for a long weekend with our two daughters, who were three to four years old.   1  , our girls jumped in and exactly told us what they wanted to do. “We want to go to a museum of butterflies(蝴蝶).” said they.
2  , Dawn and I looked at the map, and were sure enough where the museum was. We looked at each other and said, “Let’s go” As soon as we walked into the main area, thousands and thousands of beautiful butterflies immediately circled around us. They all moved their colorful wings quickly up and down.   3  . They were jumping and laughing happily. I knew we had made the right decision to come to the museum.
I asked our museum tour guide, “How long do butterflies live?”
  “About ten days.” she said.
I thought to myself, “Ten days. What can you do in ten days?” So I asked her, “What do butterflies do in ten days?”
The guide stopped, looked at me, and said, “They make the world a more beautiful place.”
“Wow,” I said, “I never thought about butterflies like that. Thank you.”
4  , I couldn’t stop thinking about what the guide had said. She was right:
We all have something to offer the world with the time we have. When we use our natural gifts to take care of each other every day, we make a difference. Like a butterfly, we all have our own way to make the world a little better for everyone.
5  . Your life matters. Make it a point in coming days to show the effect you have on others by offering a hand to people in need.
A. After we said goodbye
B. As we have never been to a museum of butterflies
C. Catch the opportunity to do something for others
D. As we wondered what to do next
E. I looked down at our girls

Alex turned his computer off and lay down on his bed. He grabbed the packet of chewing gum that was lying on the floor, popped (塞) one in his mouth and chewed it hard.
He was bored. Today was Saturday and Steve, his best friend, was working as the newspaper boy again. Alex turned round and noticed the new skateboard under his desk that he'd won at his last skate contest. He decided to ride it to the skate shop, because the kids there would buy it from him immediately.
He got up, grabbed his skateboard, opened the front door and rode away. He began to think of what he could buy with the money from selling the skateboard. He thought of the rock CDs. After a while he'd sell them to his friends, and with that money, he'd be able to buy skateboarding books. He'd sell those books back to Steve, and buy a few DVDs. Later he'd sell the DVDs to his elder brother's girlfriend! He could then get the ice-skating video, sell it to his small sister and...
He skated along, a smile on his face, thinking of all the good things when he noticed a small bench on the side of the street. He just wanted to do one little trick on the skateboard, before selling it. He decided to do a kickflip boardslide. He didn't land on the bench and fell off the skateboard, hitting his knee on the curb (路缘).
He tried to get up: It hurt. He looked at the skateboard. It was broken in half...
